What is it about this pipe that makes it flow better than others? I've heard a lot about it lately on the board and i'm just wondering how much better is it than the rest. I'm getting ready to install a BBK o/r x on my car. HOw much better is the Dr. Gas? how much does dr. gas cost??

It was a warm day in front of the TV back in February of 1995 when I first got my taste of the good Doctor. I was watching the Daytona 500 and this car sounded like no other when it went around the track. It was Sterling Marlin in the #4 Kodak car. He was the only one in the field with a Dr Gas X pipe and his car sounded like an F-1 car going around the track. Ever since then, I knew I would have one.

I think I am the only one that did not like it. The sound in my opinion was alright.(mated with spintech prostreets) The pipe quiet the car down alittle compared to a h-pipe, and also lost some of the rumble.(higher pitch sound) Just too smooth for me. Anther problem was that since the X crossover is below the engine it sits real low. I lowered my car with Eibach Sportlines and I scrape everywhere I go. I ended up going back to a H-pipe with MAC flowpaths. The Dr. Gas X-pipe still sits in the garage. But until I make gobs of power where the X-pipe will actually help I will just use a H-pipe for the sound. Everybody has their own opinion.

I have been thinking about pickin up a dr gas x pipe, but I dont know which one to get. On the website there are two options, one for "shortie header crossover system," or "MAC/BBK long tube crossover system." Will either of these fit on stock headers? Or do I need to get a set of headers to go with it? Thanks for the info, I dont want to buy the wrong one....

Different overlap being a chevy, but I run a 3" dr gas xpipe with a borla stinger catback on the vette and it sounds really mean. Lots of booming, low end bass when you get on the throttle. Not raspy at all.

Netted higher dyno numbers than a magnaflow pipe I had on before. Probably 8 rwtq in the mid range to red.
