I have heard that there is specific insurance for drag racing and not everyday street use of the car. My car will be 99% strip and I wanted to know if anyone was familiar with this type of insurance and any other information.

wish i could help but ive always heard "at your own risk" and even if you could find someone to insure it you would get a nosebleed just from how high the premium would be.

are you talking basically an insurance for a car thats not driven street often, like a casual driver? or something that will actually insure what happens at the drag strip.

i forget what its called, but theres something on my insurance company where if the cars not your primary vehicle, you can register the car under a casual driver.

i almost wanna say its called or nicknamed "pleasure insurance" i could be wrong

...some guy tonite wiped out his calypso green foxbody around corner 3 last nite in a spectators drag... the car was ****ED... poor bastard, i was gonna offer him a few bucks for the drivetrain lol the car was def totaled

I'm pretty sure no one puts insurance on pure race cars. To insure one would be insanely high. I know a guy who road races and doesnt have insurance. I mean think about how high it would be when they are insuring you for driving in a matter that could easily destroy your car every time you get in it.

Sounds like what I saw down in FL when I bought the Mustang I have now. Guy blew his lower radiator hose and it was all over from there.

You cant see much b/c it was dark but you can tell he smacks the wall

I hate Geico

but Im going to check into that recreation ins b/c I dont drive the car a lot anyway. Probably enough for one oil change a summer.

EDIT: Just checked w/ Progressive I already have "pleasure" insurance on the Mustang. Falls into that category if its driven less then 3 times a week to work.

if you dont plan on driving the car on the street at all, trailering it to the track. you could probably get away without insurance on the car.

like others said, the price for that would be so high it may not even be worth it.

Even though driving the car at the track is considered "High risk" as far as the ins company is concerned I often see it as safer then driving on the public roads. your only dealing w/ one other person in the next lane beside you going the same direction in a straight line compared to all the morons out driving on the road.
