Im going to the track for the first time tomorrow. Im going with a good friend of mine who has some experience Drag Racing but on a 5 speed car so he cant really help me out. Just wondering how is the best way to launch and stuff. Should I hold my brake to get the Rpms up a little. I tried this on the street tonight to see how high i could get before the tires broke loose and it was about 1700 RPM, is that right? I think im just gonna stick it in D and go. Is that the best way to go?? Any tips at all is much appreciated!!!

i think guys do the 1-D-1 shuffle to hold second gear, or something like that.

The 1-D-1 is very hard on the tranny(mostly the overdrive). Try starting in D floor it and soon as it shifts to 2nd pull shift back to 1st which will be second and RPM out then shift to 3rd. Hope this makes sense.

assuming his sig is correct, he wont need to do any of that 1 d 1 special shifting stuff........if he's got as his sig says a transgo shift kit.....
you can power brake it a little if you can take off with out spinning, if that makes it spin to much just try putting it in d and goin from idle. as for shifting, alot of guys say the tranny does fine in d on it's own, but then again you may wanna try manually shifting.......try 2 passes see which ones faster.........mine seems to shift about when i'd do it but i'm sure it varies from car to car.......

The shift kit should give you the best shift automaticly 1-d-1 is not a good idea. If you not thrilled with the shift points at full throttle mark the TV cable and try some other settings. The TV adjustment will give you all different shift points and can also harden the shifts. Just keep adjusting until your happy!
