I have a 69 Mustang Mach One and want to put it in the 12s N/A
I was wondering what rim/slick combo (sizes are helpful) everyone was using. Or any other tips to get it there.

Current setup is 351w bored 40 over (357)
Heads Ported/polished/gasket matched/3 angle valve job/2.0x and 1.64 valves
3/8 inch ARP Studs w/ FMS Aluminum Roller Rockers
Comp 230/236 .519/.523 110
Hedman Longtube Ceramic Coated headers
Edelbrock Performer intake
All valvetrain is new (comp/w hardened pushrods)
got all electronic ignition (pertronix coil/points replacer/msd 6al)
Rear is a 9 inch with 4.10's (4spd tranny)
Whole fuel system has been upgraded

Everything motor related has been upgraded and is new so you get the point (just so i can stop writing ). Any tips? TIA

I'd say you're already in the 12s on street tires.

I am interested in the response to this too. As I am in the middle of my build I would like to have some tips to plant my power also. I am shooting for 11's.

he still has cast iron heads...

with those heads you'll be closer to low 13's as in 13.2-13.4 with a good launch.

with aluminum heads is another story

any recommendation on a rim/tire setup that will fit?

I cant decide if i would like to go with the M/T Drag radials so they would get more miles and be fun on the street or go with a slick

Will try to get some flow numbers on my heads, they are getting worked over pretty well and I couldnt beat the price this guy is giving me at the machin shop. He is very experienced and good...and a good friend...that is why im not as concerned with the aluminum right now, that an im on a somewhat tight budget

i've run both Nitto DRs and BFG DRs. the BFGs were faster for me, but i've never had the nittos at the track when i didn't have a bad bog off the line (may mean they are hooking harder). i also broke an axle and everything else inside my 9" on Nittos, so that gives you an idea of how hard they hook.

anyways, i'm running 245/50/16s on a 16x8 V45 (4.5" BS). fit perfect under a '67's tirewell. i think i could fit 275s in there if i trimmed some of the bumpstop material and rolled the fenders a bit.

a 69 has a great deal of fender room, i would go with a 275/60/15 on a 15x8" to 10" wide rim. which is about 28" tall tire. the fronts 165/70?/15 on a 15 x 4 for the front. this size should be almost as tall as the rear.

for drag radials...

bfg's -are great but last half as long as the nitto drag radial.
nitto's- aren't as sticky as bfg's but last a long time.
mickey's- i haven't tried but hear that they work as well as bfg and last longer than bfg's.

275/60/15 will get you approx a 10" foot print in the rear.

thanks for the info, the only ones i have used are nitto's and do fairly well, got about 12k miles out of them on a daily driver, heat them up a bit and they work well, i was just clueless on what would fit under there. Thanks guys, keep the tips coming

I think the performer intake would hold him back more than the heads. He didn't say what carb, the cam may be a little small, I don't know that much about cams though (I really ought to learn more about them).

I/m sure you can get a 275 under there as long as you have the right backspacing for the wheel. I have 255/65/15 on the rear and it rubs on one side. The front I have 235/65/15 and they rub too. I think the previous owner didn’t measure anything for the offset. I've been looking at tires recently and have been leaning toward M/T ET streets; I'm sticking with a 15 inch rim.

Right now I have an edelbrock 650 carb, waiting to get it running to see if i should upgrade it and what to...any suggestions there? I do have a 80gph fuel pump so supply wont be an issue

I did want to go with a different intake manifold but was afraid of hood clearance problems. Basically built the car to peak power right at 6k rpms and fall off about 63-6400 rpms. Did this b/c i want something fun on the street but am now wanting more of a track car and seeing where this leaves me

Also, i wouldnt mind spraying it in the near future as well, that may come next winter if i do another motor though
