Dragstrip Results from the Autotragic 'Vert!

Your running 108, Im running 107.61 (Best MPH to date) but your 1/8 MPH is 4 MPH higher then what Im running. Is it just that your running out of gear at the end of the track so your only seeing 108 b/c Im running about the same MPH but Im running 12.8 right now

Yeah, I think it's definitely the coasting through the traps that is lowering the MPH - see the post above for my theory on what Killer was saying.

I crossed at 6,200 on the 75 shot with my little nitto d/rs. I was trapping 112. My runs this coming Saturday will be on taller ET Streets... AND 3.55 gears now. I may have just killed my low end, but I doubt it with the 331. Who knows maybe I'll be able to launch it on the bottle.

I wouldn't have just shut down Wes. You can hold it at the 6 grand for that few moments until you cross. Just let up enough you aren't pulling any more. It'll be better than shutting down or kicking it out of gear to coast.

Oh and ARE you running your quad shocks? I just put control arms on mine. I wasn't sure if I should pull my quads off or not.

It is very interesting to see our Autos running similar numbers. I've got a few more cubes and just a touch of juice compared to your super charger. Keep the posts coming! :nice:

I wasn't sure how high the stock longblock would take it, the valvetrain worries me a bit spinning it that high, but the s-trim just keeps pulling. A buddy of mine started a thread on Corral seeing how high people were spinning stock blocks and 6200 was a cake walk according to most of the guys, go figure. I've made countless WOT runs up to 6k in the car so I know it's at least good to there.

You are right on the chopping the throttle. Next time out I'll just gently let off. This was the first time the car has been fast enough to have to shut it down, last best was 14.03 @ 95.98. All I added performance wise was the S-trim (stock pulley), powerpipe and smokin' fast black cloth top. :)

Still running the quads on the car.

Worst case is that I spin it too high and have to install the pile of parts sitting in the shop and/or a new block which I am probably in need of anyways. But I had a trailer waiting to tow me home this time out so of course the car didn't break. :)

I don't see the s/b giving out due to rpms, when I ordered my cam from Jay, I told him I wanted to shift as high as I could with my gt40 headed combo. 6450rpm and 7200 crossing was with my cobra and even higher with my down's ford(haven't tried it yet).

And yeah, I also think that your top end is costing you those et's and mph. Just get a taller tire and have at it.

Good luck
