My buddy has a 2.3T motor he's gonna give me for cheap, but it will need an extra hole drilled to accomodate the box-style lower intake. The gasket that's stuck on the head has a hole and tab for the hole, but the head just doesn't have it. When I get the head freshened, can they make a hole? Why've I not heard about this before?

WTH w/ related links?

Anyways ash, its been around..older heads didnt tap the hole for the later model intake. Is the head an "oval" port by chance? I got mine (oval) specificly becuase of port design ...and yes the hole tapping has been in a few threads Very simple, i did mine when i got the head back from the shop. Take a drill bit (smaller than the bolt you plan to use), drill the hole....put some thread sealer on the bolt and call it a day. Took me less than 10 mins!

Edit: inglesh eh, hu nedes et?

Not sure. I have some reading to do on the various heads and whatnot, and a lot of other things too, I guess. All I know is that it's an older head and motor that came out of an SVO parts car my buddy's brother bought a while back. Don't know if it's stock to that car or not.

Might wanna use a drill press to do the hole also, as I plan to. Tough to get the hole exactly straight otherwise.

Here's a pic...

The unused (gray) part of the gasket is where the hole needs to be. I'm guessing this is a D-port head because the ports are D-shaped?
