drive shaft

anyone know how to change the yokes on them, i bought an alumuin one, but i have an automatic. and how easy is it to change the drive shaft. thanks

I would buy a haynes manual. They show you how to do exactly what you want. Do a search on "driveshaft" and you find some install instructions.

I don't see how the automatic and standard driveshafts are any different (other than length). Mine took about 10 minutes to do. Loosen the the two bolts on the yoke at the rearend...drop that in, then carefully slide the other end out of the tailshaft of the tranny. Be carefully, some fluid may come out of the tailshaft when you do it. Also be gentle, there is the tailshaft seal that you don't want to rip or damage. Install is the opposite, just make sure you Loc-Tite your bolts. I think they are 9/16 bolts. Good luck!

It helps to have some help on the nuts to the differential. You can spin the wheel to allow easier access to the bolts. Loosen, turn, loosen, turn and so on. While you are lossening your help holds the wheel so it doesn't spin.
