Driver's window

I'm hoping somebody will know what this problem is before I tear into it further. My driver's window just clicks (sounds more like lound knocks). It doesn't seem to be the motor. That seems to be running. Sometimes I can get it to go down by pushing and up by pulling. I have the door panel off and tried looking in there with a small mirror but I can't see. Do you think it's the track mechanism? I'm guessing there's a gear on the end of the motor. Would I need to replace the motor or the track or what? Also, it looks like I'm going to have take the glass out and the whole window mechanism/tracks :Damnit: Is that right?

Sounds like the motor bushings are toast. Very common issue with our cars. Click on the FAQ sticky and scroll down to the Window bushing section. It has a how to article with pictures on what needs to be done.

Thanks for the replies.

BLK, It doesn't seem like it "fell off the track" and I can't see squat in the area were the motor meets the track, even using a small mirror in there.

Urban, The motor itself seems to run just fine.

Vibrant, I'll check out the bushings.

That's where Im putting my $$$.
Vib and I both went through this a couple of years ago....Junk looks like minced garlic when you get the motor apart.

Cheap fix!

You were exactly right. Those white plastic bushings were in tiny pieces. $8 from the auto parts store in the "help" section.
Thanks.

bump: i've seen where guys put nuts instead of the bushings--i want to do this as this'll be the second time i have to replace them. problem is, what size nuts to use? 1/2" ok?
I wouldnt do this myself, and especially if you ever have other folks in the car (the bushings are sacrificial so people dont get crushed fingers).

I think Chris (Cman) has posted pics and specs on what size nuts he used, if you wanna do that.

Good luck.
