Driveshaft Help

The OEM bolts are threadlocked in. Some heat should cook the threadlock and they will come out.

Otherwise, Some guys push against the wrench with their foot to get more application of force.

Leverage is the key. You could lengthen your box wrench with a piece of pipe. Have you tried getting in there with a 12 point socket and breaker bar yet? Just wait until you put it back in and have to put a torque wrench on it!

i wouldnt think this would be recomended, but me and everyone i know just gets em good and tight. i get em as tight as i can get em with the 12pt wrench alone. never failed yet.
 
The Ford Service Manual actually calls for replacing the bolts after you remove them. I highly recommend this as they come precoated with Loctite and if you applied heat to them to remove them, you may have caused them to become brittle. They are cheap from the Dealer and I alway buy a set to keep in my toolbox for the future and invest in a torque wrench!
 
I'm sure others have said this, but I'm too lazy to read them all. :)

Use your 12 MM closed end of the wrench, and use a 22 MM wrench. You can loop the open end of the 12 MM wrench into the boxed end of the 22 and you will have plenty of leverage. Remember, they have Loctite on them from the factory, and make sure to use it again when reinstalling it.

Yeah! I read that on here and tried it. Now everytime I read a thread like this, I always recommend that as the easiest way without airtools. My wrench is a little bent from doing it so many times, but it's a Craftsman, so when it is beat, I will get a new one.
 
I believe the spec is for 85 Ft. Lbs. on the driveshaft bolts in my Haynes manual. You should definitely put some loctite back on the bolts when you reinstall them. I did lose some once, and I don't remember, but I think it was 2 or 3 of them came out. That thing was shaking like you couldn't imagine, and when I pulled it off, I didn't need anything other than a 3/8 socket wrench and very little torque on the bolts. Not a fun experience when you're like 20 miles from home, and your car feels like it's going to come apart!
 
Torque is 71-95 Ft. Lbs. per Ford Service Manual. Also make sure you line up the marks when installing the Driveshaft. Please dont risk your life and others around you by being a total cheapskate by not replacing the bolts, cheap life insurance!!! Bolt P/N N800594-S 100
