I would like to know how to tell the difference between a standard driveshaft and the ones that were rubber filled. Thanks for the help.

Rubber filled? I have not heard of that. Hollow ones have a nice echoing ring if you tap on them with a wrench. I would think rubber filled would be more of a thud.

the 'rubber filled' ones are a 2 peice d/s. near the end, a smaller diameter tube fits into a larger, and it's held in place by rubber. my '68 d/s is like that.

drive shaft

Thanks. I found out my drive shaft was too short and I am either getting it extended or replaced. I did not know the correct terminology. Mine is a standard type.

standard type is good... you cant weld on a rubber filled drive shaft. when you say extended, i assume you mean a new tube with the existing yokes, right? thats the cheapest route, and any good drive shaft shop can handle it.
