driveshaft squeeks after replacing the U-Joints, plz help...

zup peeps,

well i am mechanically challenged, but my mechanic changed the Universal Joints on my 2k V6 automatic. As per the mechanic those were causing "chirping" noises from the rear of the car, it sounded like little chicks chirping when i reached 60mph or the road got bumpy, not to mention some vibration that could be felt in the steering wheel when reaching 25-40mph during acceleration.

After replaced I went for a spin, now I have a squeeky noise right on the drive shaft. He placed it on the lift and by just turning it manually it squeeks, and the sound seems to come from the drive shaft itself. Now he says that it's the drive shaft that was "ALREADY" going bad and that it just finally showed the real problem.

Now it seems like I need to get a driveshaft, how much does one cost? Can this be another problem? Is there anything that can get loose and move inside the drive shaft...it seems like one single sealed piece of metal that cant be opened to check the insides.

It your techie oriented please give you me your input.... I need 2nd opinion :(
