Hey guys. So a bit of background on the issue, my manual trani recently got stuck in 4th gear and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it out of gear, this trani has also had some other problems so I just decided to replace it. Now I have the car on 4 jack stands and I'm trying to remove the driveshaft. I managed to remove 2 bolts (the ones that are visible at the moment) but the other 2 require that the driveshaft be rotated before I can have access to them, that's where I hit a snag. I took off the e-brake and rotated the rear tires by hand and the drive shaft didn't spin! I asked a friend to jump in the car and I tried rotating the tires with the clutch pressed and without and still no luck. The wheels rotate freely and the driveshaft stays in place. So my question is, how can I get the driveshaft to rotate so I can get access to those screws?

Thanks,

Jose

Before you put the car on jack stands, could you push the car with the clutch in?

Might consider turning the motor over by hand. Remember to turn clock wise only as viewed from the front. I believe the nut is a 19mm.

A 3rd option is to get a 10mm 12 point flex socket and access the flang bolts from up top. May be tough to get enough torque to remove the bolts.

Are you sure that the transmission is not stuck in gear because the clutch is not disengaging?
