i have this terrible whining noise coming from somewhere in the drive train of my car. It almost sounds like it is coming from one of the tires or the differential. When the car gets to around 40 mph is when it is the worst, and as i slow down it gradually goes away. Could this be a gear whine? and has anyone dealt with anything like this before?

Does the noise change pitch if you accelerate vs coasting, vs applying the brakes?

Does it do this in neutral as well?

You can rotate tires to see if it is a radial issue.

Good luck.

I took it out today on a long stretch of country road and get up to 50 and shut the engine of and coasted and i get the same sound, so it does do it in nuetral, and revving the engine does not change the pitch, just how fast i'm going does. The tires are fairly new, maybe a month old and they all look fine but i might try it anyway. Thanks
