I was just wondering what needs to be done to safely run slicks/drag radials when you're up around 400whp in a fox body mustang.. My friend has a high compression NA 347 stroker(all forged, in a 1992 GT) that should be making close to that much power(it was originally built to be a "street" car and for limited track use, but he wants to race it at the track more often) and he's afraid that he's going to tear some stuff up when he throws some drag radials/slicks on there. Anyways, it still has the stock T5 w/ a performance clutch(not sure what it has there, I'll have to look through all the receipts he has for the car to find out), and a stock rearend(it also has a 5 lug conversion so I assume it has the typical ranger/bronco axles???) besides the gearing(3.73's in it now) as far as I know. The car has ~60K original miles on it and about 5K or so on the motor since it was built and the transmission seems to be holding up well so far on street tires. The best ET's to date in the car are 12's at 116-117mph w/ horrible traction on street tires, I'm sure the stock suspension(save for the front springs, they're supposedly off a 4cyl mustang for better weight transfer, they're pretty damn weak so I believe it....
