I was forced to learn to drive on a stick. Reason being is that if you can drive a stick, you can drive anything....almost. I've seen some crazystick shift semi trucks with multiple levers, switches, etc.
After a bit, it'll become second nature to you. Like riding a bike.
So, for the longest time now I've been driving automatic transmissions. And to be fair, the only reason I had done so is because I had no interest in learning to drive a manual. Not only because of how complicated it seemed, but because of how much slower (I believe) manual cars are in comparison to automatic cars.
But after looking into the GT350 , I decided to jump the gun and head to the dealership to test drive the car. Unfortunately, the sales associate said that the only GT350 they had in stock was in manual trim.
After stalling more than several times and almost accidentally running into a parked vehicle, I'm completely terrified in driving a manual transmission car.
I've watched countless tutorials like the one found here (because the dude is driving a mustang and I assumed it'd be pretty similar to the GT350 transmission) :
And although the video is seriously resourceful, it's just not cutting it in the mental department. Can anybody offer any more tips other than the tips offered in the video?
I hear ya man! Countless people have tried to teach me stick and I actually drove an old Pontiac Fiero for my old mechanic across a busy street in Newport Beach to help him out that was a stick. He's like, "can you drive that car to the shop for me?" And I was like, "sure!" Come to find out it was a stick and instead of running back across the street to say I couldn't do it, did my darndest, and 6-7 stalls later it got there! LOL Told him afterward and he was like, "it's all good." He was pretty cool.. Richard Perlin. He's no longer in business but gave me really good deals for helping him out here and there. Also would get breakfast from him time to time while I was waiting. Good times.
Yeah.. I have no patience nor mental capacity for stick. LOL
I been driving a stick so long can't remember how I started, probably like most things in my life I just got in and did it.
Recently attempted to teach my teen grandson, I finally just walked away telling him to 'just do it'.
It took awhile but he did manage to drive it around the field a few laps but sadly I don't think he's interested in a stick car.
Oh, and the clutch still works ok.
