Well while putting the new timing cover gasket on, i forgot to put one of the pins to the side in,so when i was about to put it in it slip out my hand into the oil pan.

So I cant see where it went,so now i have to drop the oil pan. What all has to be done to get the oil pan off ,If someone has a write up or can tell me?What tools would i be needing?
Man i am so ****ing piss.

Should i still add the Timing cover and other stuff on?I have a extra pin.

Thanks
Jesse

which pin are you talking about can you not drain oil and see if it will flow out with the oil or it is metal right? use a magnet to retrieve you can use a big magnet on the bottom of the pan to move pin to the front of pan remove that magnet and insert a telescopic or they make one on a flimsy coil spring where the pin fell in at and retrieve pin...

I think he means one of the dowels for the timing cover, at the bottom corners.

I am pretty sure it's not aluminum, so you should be able to use a magnet to find it. You will need to drain both the front and rear sumps.

Then slide a telescoping magnet around until you hear it tinkling around. Get it to the front sump and remove it from the top.

i dont see why the pan would have to be removed a magnet should do the trick you might just need to run a strong magnet across the outside bottom of the pan and move up to an opening and retrieve if that don't work use a flimsy coil or telescopic magnet as i described above. goodluck and let us know the outcome....

I think it will work too. But I dont know if the dowel is steel or aluminum. I thought I remember seeing some rust on one of mine, so I would assume it's a normal alloy steel, which will stick to a magnet well. Stainless steel will barely attract a magnet because of the higher chromium content. Good luck.

Could not have said it any better. Do this and you should be squared.
