Dropped in to 13's for the quarter mile

Hi,
Made 5 runs and various mistakes. 2 Runs dropped me to the high 13s and the best time was13.89.

High Flow cats and Drag radials are the only changes between 14.71 and 13.89 Iam a Happy Man.

You knocked off .9 off of your time, and only gained 2mph? How the hell did you do that with just cats? How many times did you take it to the track with your old setup? Still need a little more practice with thoes DR's

woah, thats pretty close to my time. what are all your mods? i ran a 13.87 at 99.4 mph.

My whole setup was being held back by the 4 cats on my H-pipe?? If I could only launch it better!

I'm happy for you in that your into the 13's, however with your mods I still don't understand why you are not running at least 81-82mph in the 1/8th and ~103-104 in the 1/4. With that much HP and such I think you should be.

Wellll,
I did not take anything out of the car spare tire, still air conditioned, still have the 25lb weight in the front etc. could that be it.

i think you shouuld be doing better then that with those mods. we have similar mods excpet you have h/c. have you every dynoed the car? my mods are underdrives,3.73s, upr shifter,flowmaster 3 chambers, o/r x pipe, cobra intake, subframes, eibach springs(bad) and nitto drags. only thing i have better then you is the nitto drag radials but i sure hope heads and cam should more then make up for that/

Steve, I don't think so. I ran 13.83 at 98.55mph with the stock heads and cam, AC, 25lb weight (I think), but without the spare and jack. However, I had the body kit, chrome wheels, and chrome roll bar at the time. That is why I think your times are off. You need to keep practicing the launch on the DR's and learn to slip the clutch out so as to not shock the tires, if you shock them they will unload and spin. I cut a 1.91 60' on that 13.83 run. That is the key to running well on Dr's, slipping the clutch. What is the track elevation? What is your shift point? The nice thing is that it seems you still have a lot of potential in the car, but don't fret. A buddy of mine has a 94GT with TW heads, E303 cam, and a cobra intake. He kept saying it was a 12 second car, that was until we went to the track together. He was stuck running like 14.1-14.0 at 98-100mph all day. I never sat in his car let alone drove it, but he asked me to make a pass in it. On my first and only pass I clicked off a 13.6 at 105mph, but I drag race a lot. I think with more practice and playing with shift points and such your times will continue to fall. GOOD LUCK!!!

Yeah i second the shift points. Hard launch or no hard launch u should be traping at least 103 with those mods. Dont be scared to take it to 5,800-6,000 thats where it needs to go to make power, and drop back into the power band for the next gear.

I agree i think he should be having high low 13 to high 12 sec time slips with 281rwhp. You need to work on your launch and so forth. 2.2 60ft time man that's kinda high for drag radials you should be able to cut at least 1.8-1.9's with those.

what kind of timing etc. do you run on that thing. like 0 or what. I think with twisted wedge heads you should be shifting at around 6000 right? And power shifting does not make that big a diff. when i went to the track last i did on one run and didn't on the other only made like a .1 diff. with sim reaction and 60 ft times.

I am with paul i think something is iffy. As you ask me paul what were the temps his car was running etc. What were your shift points, what elevation, were you at WOT? I hope when i have the HCI done on mine, that it does a little better than that, but with my luck it will not!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I am trying to get better, only been to the track 3 times, 2 last year and yesterday. The track is around 900 ft elevation. I was shifting around 5800 using the stock tach. I was shifting into 4th before the end. A couple time the tach showed about 6100 or 6200 between shifts.

I'll keep practicing those launches I realize that there is a couple tenth in reaction time.

I know you dont powershift paul. When done correctly it does help..., You probably shift fast though. It takes some people forever to shift. I hear it at the track all the time. Makes a big difference when they drive like that
