My friend visiting from Hawaii rented a 40 anniv 6 cylinder. He asked if I wanted to drive it and I said sure. I just recently sold my 88 mostly stock fox and I wanted to see how a 6 cyl mustang feels.

Car has no power in automatic... 190 horsepower felt like 120
My 1990 accord with a few mods would probably beat it in a 0-60
Very disapointed and he said the gas mileage was really bad.

I am very much hoping this was because the car was an automatic but even when I was able to get into the high revs it just didn't have the real power to it. I'd like to drive the 8 cyl next and the svt to see the difference. I'm sure they have to be light years better stock for stock

damn i just noticed you were from queens NY. is it mega gangsta up in there?
1. I bet you really drove a 2004 V6. I doubt a rental company would dish out the $$$ for the anniversary option.

2. V8 faster than the V6. Good job, Sherlock. What did you come here for, a ****ing trophy?
haha.. "Sherlock" :rlaugh:

well then... your auto is a slush box and my manual is far supirior and my cars faster and your cars slower and i would beat you and your car's ugly and my cars better and white stangs are ugly and yours is a piece of rice and and and....

hope you don't take these random comments personally either... ahahah j/k you make no sence sometimes

lol, I'm originally from the Bronx. I would say Queens is significantly less 'gangsta' than the Bronx but then I don't really pay attention. I can't really stand the whole 'gangsta' ideal to tell you the truth. No offense :).

the car said 40th anniversary on the side of the car. It had 4000 miles on it.
My other friend who had a 96 8 cylinder automatic complained about its lack of power too. I know the 96 to 98 8 cylinders really sucked at 210 hp but this mustang I drove last night was a shame.

The car is good for a girl or as a conv maybe, but not for someone trying to actually be fast.

well it depends on what you want out of the car, my friends 95 v6 mustang is doing 12s NA with low compression ready for the turbo.... many are in the 13s with head work and a cam and bolt ons.

but the autos are 16.0 stock cars and manuals 15.5 vs a pre 99 gt at 15.2 stock in a manual...very bad year for the gt's

ive been able to run 14s with what i have now which is all i really care for until i get out of school. it would be easier to buy a 5.0 start out life in the high 14s (or faster depending on if you get a notch or what ever) and slap on a set of heads and a cam with intakes and have 300hp but no one makes heads or intake for us, take a ported out E7 oem heads and intakes its about all we can do for now.

Yea, when I bought my V6 all I was thinking about was going fast. I wish that bastard salesguy at the Ford dealer would've mentioned that they make V8 Mustangs. And what the hell is a Cobra?

Don't worry. The ricers fail to grasp the idea also. So I'll explain it to you and them. If you want to go fast in a Mustang, Ford gives you three options; GT, Mach I, or Cobra. If you want a Mustang, but would like to save money(initial price, insurance, possibly speeding tickets) go for the V6.

I got a V6 because insurance on a GT and a classic at age 17(my age when I got the '01) would've sucked. I also know that putting money into a classic is smarter than putting it in a new car that's just gonna depreciate. But I wanted another Mustang to park next to the '66. Does this mean I'm a girl for driving a V6 Mustang? Hell no. It just means I have my **** straight.

Yea. All 2004's say that. Now be quiet before every Tom, Dick, and Harry with an '04 starts claiming they have an Ann. Ed.
I mean we've got V6'ers in here claiming to have 35th Ann. cars. But all the REAL Anniversary Mustangs in '99 were GT's.
