yea they dont feel very fast cause they are heavier cars but the top end of the 3v is much better than the 2v. it just pulls so much harder. my bro took his 07 out for the first time ever drag racing and managed to get an 8.9 at 80.03 mph with a 2.1 60'. they are pretty quick suckers. heck my best time in my car is only an 8.8 at 80.5 and ive been drag racing for a good while now.

My dad has an '07 GT automatic, and I have an '01 GT automatic. I can consistently beat him whether it's from a dig or a roll. Not to mention that my car "feels" way faster due to the torque delivery and throttle tip-in (throttle by wire sucks in the new cars).

I won't be trading the Mach's for the new GT's that's for sure, I sure expected more and will wait for the LE models. Of course with the 87 octane tune I'm sure that's part of the problem.

i test drove an 06 GT/CS.....COMPLETELY unimpressed. You cant feel where the car is at in the road, cant feel the clutch, who knows where the shifter was supposed to go, car felt big, hard to see the guages (imo)...i was just totally unimpressed.

my buddy has a 06 GT with 4.10's, intake, throttle body, tune, and like 2 other things and by the bottom of 4th, i can put 1/4 car on him and my car is basically stock.

Just for refference sake. It took ported heads/intake, 1.7RR, Full Exhaust, CAI, underdrive pulleys and 3.55 gears for me to run the same times (with a slightly better 60ft) in my old '87LX Hatch.

We've certainly come a long way since the Fox era.

its ok, i test drove a 05 GT when they first hit the lots and was less than impressed. felt like a wannabe beamer to me, suspension was soft, car was quiet, power was lacking, everything to me had no feedback. not what i want in a car, i want to feel the road, the tranny, the suspension on every turn. it just left me feeling disassociated with the car.

i have ....its not that they are not quick its just that new chassis softens everything and refines it more... I still think 79-04 is the best run of stangs!

IMO......eventhough the 05+ is totally brand new, and performance enhancements were given...I believe it falls in the new "bling bling" category. The design was basically made to fit large wheels like 20's, much more elegant interior and a bigger/brawny stance. Look at some "similiar" cars......the magnum, charger, the 300..and so on. We've come to a point where people want Hollywood glam, and when it comes to cars more people want style and comfort with a bunch of sometimes useless gizmos. The DUB revolution has started. I can remember back in the late 80's and early 90's...17" wheels were large and racey looking compared to the 13/14/15" wheels most cars and trucks used to have, now 17's are almost standard on every new car which are considered small.

To me, the new mustangs went towards a styling category rather then performance, now they are no slouch on performance but I don't think that was #1 priority. Performance minds went to the Ford GT, unfortunately there aren't many and cost way more than any average person could ever afford. Even GT500's are near impossible to find at a fair price right now. I really feel the 03/04 Cobra's are your best bet. They are going for about half the price as a GT500 with low miles still. I want a GT500, but the Shelby name is going to keep those suckers pricey and hard to find.

Before I bought my cobra I test drove an '06 GT with abouth 15K miles and it was deceiving how fast it was. My Cobra felt faster because of the aftermarket exhaust and suspension mods but it's probably close I guess. In the end it was the money factor and the fact it was a Cobra.

I still like the S197's though, esp black on black.
