Dual exhaust on an 84 3.8??

Hey guys...i'm likely going to have to replace my exhaust to pass inspection, anyways...and odds of finding factory replacement for an 84 v6 are slim to none...so since i'll probably have to go the custom route anyways, what would dual exhaust do to the sound of that old motor? They only came w/ 115 horsepower, if memory serves correctly...would i end up sounding like a civic?

Just figured i'd ask, since i'll probably have to do it, anyways.

Wow...well, it's nice to see that the v6 community is so...vital and ready to help. I'm not trying to be rude...i just know that the 5.0/4.6 boards are much easier to get replies on, and helpful ones, at that. I learned quite a bit about my 5.0 before i wrecked it..but i don't know much of anything about my old 84...

Any help/tips/advice would be much appreciated

as long as you don't go with a cherry bomb or glass pack on the car it shouldnt' sound bad, and as long as you use the double hump crossmember made for the 87-93 dualed out cars you shoudl be able to run true duals on it. However if you're looking at passing inspecitons, unfortunatly you'll have to install cats on it, which will cost more. I'm not sure how much stuff underneath the fox body and sn-95 cars differ wasnt' supposed to be too much, but I'm thinking you may be able to use the headers from the 98 and later V6 stangs on your heads, if I'm wrong which I may be I'd hope someone would speak up. I've only dealt with one V6 stang and since I've moved to TN I dont' get to fool around with little brothers cars anymore. But I always wanted to do a swap with a factory V6 fox body with 99 and newere motor and tranny with the additino of a procharger fo course

ok here goes, 1998 headers from a 3.8 stang will direct fit right in(MAC) and a dual cat "H" pipe (MAC again) will work just addGT parts from there back using stock hangers flowmasters will deepen the sound and exit with no hassles(used GT hardware on my '84 conv so I know it will fit)

enjoy
