dual-friction question

hello,first post for me. I enjoy all the infomation and funny posts about ricers,being a mustang addict and the rules for women are very funny. I want to know if it would be okay to change out the clutch disc ,throwout bearing and resurface the flywheel when I change engines next month? My head tells me to change the whole thing but my wallet is telling me just the disc. The clutch has about 40-50k on it still has good feel and some adjustment left. Just thought while I was in there to freshen up. Thanks

I'm sure other clutches are like this too, but the DF is designed to be rebuilt. If its a lot cheaper then I say rebuild it instead of buying a whole new setup.

i know money is hard but when i blew my tranny i bought another one for 300 and needed to get a clutch cause my stock one was all worn out and what not. so i forked out another 200 and at that time i had no job so money was really tight till i got another job.

your best bet is if you're putting an engine in with more power then just save up and buy a new clutch. maybe a ford motor sport clutch they're only 200. pretty cheap compared to the centerforce dual friction clutch which is like 300 or more i dont remember.

well the post says DF, so we are assuming he already has a DF, and there for it would be very economical to freshen it up instead of buying a crappy FMS clutch.

do I need to send the DF to the factory or can I buy the kit and do it myself?

FMS clutch aint crappy. i didnt know he had a centerforce clutch i didnt really know what he meant by the dual friction clutch. i thought he meant centerforce dual friction but wasnt really sure.

Send the pressure plate to them and they will check it out and resurface it. They will also tell you if its toast in case for some reason it is. As for the clutch disc just buy another one from somewhere, doesnt matter. Repalce the Throwout bearing too, its about 30 bucks.
