Can anyone suggest a way to remove the inner grease retainer that has fused itself with the drum on my wife's '67? I'd rather not just start hacking away with hammers and chisels and such and risk damaging the drum.

For all I know it's been there for 38 years and doesn't want to leave!

Use a piece of wood from the other end and knock it out with a hammer. A drift made of round brass also works.

OK it came out except for the ring inside of the groove...any thoughts on how to get that out?

Thanks for the reply...

Well, I think if you use the same technique to knock the inner bearing cup out it will push the remains of the seal with it. I'm pretty sure they are the same O/D.
