i cant seem to find any info but, are 86 4cyl fuel injected or carbed?

Looking at this page it dosent show EFI next to the 4 cyc non turbo so it must be carbed,

It's probably some type of throttle body injection...but i can't be sure. The turbo version was definitely EFI though.

I think the 4-banger went EFI in 1987

I was 6 years old

86 were efi, i test drove one before. lol oddly enough it had an aero dash in it as well, i was thinking maybe late production 86

the 86 L4 2.3 non turbos were carbed. They had a single barel carb.

It was a mix-and-match car.

Ford wouldn't debut a newly redesigned interior in an soon-to-be outdated car.

well it was efi too, now now im being told they were originally carbed lol whaddaya think happened there

Well if it had a newer dash in it, it's likely that the person who put that in also swapped the engine

I was hoping they wouldnt be carbed............

I found a nice(atleast in the pictures) black 86 4cyl notch not too far from me. I wanted efi though. :/

How hard would it be to convert the car to efi? I have an entire efi car that I can use. Im assuming just punching a hole for the main harness, and a few wires under the dash??

My '86 coupe started life as a 4 banger (it was carbed.) It's a good idea to have a donor car for a v8 efi swap. Your best bet is finding a wrecked '86 5.0 for a donor, later year cars can be used but it's a little easier this way.
