hey ive heard some people talkin about hooking up your exhaust so you can hit a switch and a valve will redirect the pipes to the outside not passing through the cats & mufflers. anybody done this (or tried to)?

ya, they are called electric exhaust cut-outs they are still expensive at about 500 for the pair and you can open them as much as you want with a toggle switch. i just about bought them. will do them one day you just have to have a exhaust shop weld them in.

you can get manual ones, spring loaded to return them to closed position.

yeah its called SLP loudmouth exhaust a dude i know has them on his zo6 all he does is flip a switch and then hes runnin straight headers

they shouldn't be a problem passing emissions, as long as they are closed during the test (it would be like they aren't there). I wouldn't go with them unless you have one nasty car because you still need back pressure in the exhaust

i searced online and almost bought them from a wholesale dude who owns a turbo regal. lol no help i know but just search elec cutouts.

eh? backpressure can help with low-end torque, but all said you're almost always going to make more power with the headers opened up than through the exhaust...i ran open headers on my skylark for about a month before the exhaust got done, and it ran great.

JC Whitney sells the manual xhaust cutouts, not sure about electric ones though.
