Well i'm about tired of driving down the highway and having to yell to whoever is riding with me for them to hear. Watching musclecar on SPIKE this weekend i saw them using dynamat on a project. I was wondering if any of you guys had used dynamat before and if it cut down on the road noise significantly.

I have not tried dynamat but I have tried a crazy experiment to cut down on
interior noise. This was due to the flowmaster drone in my former 99 GT.
What I did was stuff the trunk full of blankets in the wheel well and on top.
I also padded the floorboards front and back with as much as I could get in.
This made no difference at all, so like on Mythbusters my experiment
was "Busted" I now run Magna flows...........

dynomat is awesome. PRICEY, but it does work....for stero and for LOUD LOUD pipes..off road........

My trunk/backseat is dynamatted. Didn't really do too much imo... I'm sure it reduced noise by a few db but it wasn't immediatly noticable.

i have it on my doors and trunk but more for reducing vibration from the stereo then reducing road noise. They have a foil type application for under your carpet that goes in with a heat gun that may help with road noise...maybe your tires are just loud?

ive seen people put it on the bottoms of their bumpers to avoid chipping paint on low low bumpers. bet thats a new onehaha

could be tires, i think the conv. top also has a lot to do with it though as far as wind noise.

i used 2 layers of reflextix on the floorboards... and 2 layers of fatmat (mucho cheaper) on everything else.. ended up using 150 square feet of the fatmat..

the reflextix cut down lots of the exhaust noise and road noise in the floor... and it only cost me about $25

the fatmat worked well on the doors.. when you close em it sounds like a nice solid THUD and not a chunk sound.. another place that was well worth it is on the wheel wells and the trunk floor

So much for weight reduction!

We put a ton of Dynamat in a friend's Kia Rio. It helped a ton! The road noise was almost cut in half. It's all in where you apply it.

I was going to put it pretty much everywhere under the carpet inside and then under and behind the back seat. Think this would do the trick?

The dynamat will help the vibration, then you need to insulate with something like dynaliner. Using both together should cut down on outside noise. My friend used 4 dynamat extreme bulk packs on his 88 thunderbird. Stripped out the interior and and covered everything. Knocking on the roof sounds like its solid.

Forget about the Dynamat, that stuff is rediculously expensive. I used B-quiet (www.bquiet.com) on my old '98. I used their Ultimate on every square inch of my floorboards and firewall, and then used the Extreme in every part of my trunk and doors. It really cut down on road noise and virbrations. I was finally able to have a conversation driving down the highway with my Flowmasters.

Check them out on ebay, their prices are a little less if you buy there.
