Went to La Rocca's yesterday to get the car tuned and a chip burnt. The did a great job of resolving my idle issues...

here is also a short clip of my last run..

I think thats the 345 b/c it has the b cam and that one is rated at 345. Didn't you order the same one.

That is rated at 345 on the motor.. not at the wheel... I was expectiing it to be closer to 290.. but I am not real concerned.. once I have a few thousand miles on the motor I am fgoing to put my Vortec on it... The I will have all the power I need for a streetable car..

Very nice.

Do you know what the AF readings were prior to the tuning ? Did they do a baseline run or is that 1st run the base ?

If the motor is 345 at the crank shouldn't it be a bit more at the wheels or deoes it only crank that horsepower with specific parts?

EDIT : Yeah 281 is pretty close to the 345 at the crank anyway.

The 1st run was the baseline. I am running 24lb injectors.. and I have the CAI on.. when they get 345 that is without the Air filter on, so you will lose some. I am going to go with 42lb injectors when I put on the Vortec.

How about AF readings ? Did they give you an AF readout graph? If so I'd love for you to post it.

The reason I'm so full of questions is because I'm going in for a chip on Friday. My car is running at 10.1:1 AF at WOT around 3000 rpm and up.

i am ordering that motor this week, i would think that would be a little more closer to 300rwhp, but my setup should run me around 300-315rwhp, but i need a new block so i'm just goin with the crate motor.

Yes, you can use both your stock oil pan and stock valve covers on the GT40 motor. If you want to use the valve covers that they come with, you can easily do a Fox body conversion, and not have the headaches that we do. Keep in mind that you do lose cruise control when you do the swap.

I used the stock oil pan and I used the Valve covers that came with the motor. I have the Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake.. I did not run into an clearance problems..

I did not get an AF reading.. I am sure he did one.. I just did not think to ask for the paperwork or the brand of Chip.. I am pretty sure its a Superchip.. but don't quote me on that... The cost was 625.00 plus tax. The car was there a total of 3 hours.. he did a total of 10 pulls.. not all of them were complete pulls...

They really know there stuff there.. well worth the 2 hour drive.. even with the traffic jam on the NJ turnpike..

I am going to go back and get it tuned there again after the blower is put on.

By the way.. with the chip my Stock timing is set at 10 degrees.. with the chip I am running 32 degrees..

i thought i wouldn't run into clearnece problems cuz i was looking at the pic on the motor and u can just tell that the valve covers would clear, i can't wait to get the motor in, lol, i don't live too far from larocca's anyway, about 25-30 minutes away, right after i graduate i should have 625 for the chip and dyno tune, thanks.

FYI.. the 303B cam is extremely aggressive. the power band is from 3000-6000 rom.. when cruizing between 2000-3000 the car gets the herky-jerky's.. it is very slight but you can feel it.. almost feels like a hesitation.. but I was assured by FMS tech support that it is normal and can not be tuned out with a chip... I am use to it now.. but new passengers in the car can feel it...
