Just dynoed my GT and the numbers seem strange. The RWHP was 231 and the RWTQ was 330. I thought the HP would have been a little higher considering my mods. But the RWTQ seem to high when compared to the HP. The Dyno shop said the AF was at 13.2 and that a custom tune would help the HP numbers (20-30hp for $600). Can someone explain the big split between the HP and TQ?

your torque I would say is impossible.. Could have been something set wrong on the dyno or something.. also, 20-30 hp from a dyno tune is a straight up lie on an N/A car.

I realize the shop is trying to get business and that the hp gains from a tune are exaggerated. They were having a dyno day at the shop and a lot of other mustangs and cobras were there and their HP/TQ numbers matched up as expected. I had two runs the first was 237HP with 307TQ the second was 231HP with 330TQ. On the first run the 237HP was a spike so they went with the second.

I agree the TQ numbers on both runs is to high for my car. What would cause this miscalculation on the dyno.

Thanks for your reply

Is that A/F ratio safe on a N/A Stang? I would say it's lean. Caution with that!

I'd say the first set is way more realistic.

My understanding is that 13.2 is okay. I have been told that most N/A mustangs are around 12.5. I am not sure though. Fuel injection is not my best subject.

Your tq still seems high, at least to me. Could it possibly be the gears? For example, could the dyno guy change the gear ratio on the dyno software to properly reflect his correct numbers? I've heard of gears altering hp ratings on a dyno but, not tq, at least.

Eh, just a shot in the dark

You have to know which brand of dyno it was and SAE or STD.

I got my car on 2 different brand of Dynos with the same mods and here's the result:

Jan.25 2003 Mustang Dyno @ Razor's Edge Florida
227.9 rwhp & 322.3 ft-lbs torque N/A SAE

Feb.9 2003 Dynojet dyno @ UPR Florida
245.6 rwhp & 286.8 ft-lbs torque N/A SAE

This is the exact same car with different dynos 2 weeks apart.

I'm pretty sure that your car has been dynoed on a Mustang Dyno

Umm Now I don't know.. The numbers looks almost identical as the one I have on a Mustang dyno.

I don't know enough about dynos to give you a correct anwser.

They just posted the graphs. Mine is the last one listed. Click on both the graph and the view buttons. If you look at it it peaks at 3700 and then goes down. You would think it should keep making power up to 5000rpm. But it doesn't

Just do the math. Take peak torque x RPMS / 5252... On both of your runs your torque is just too high.
