E 6 heads curious

Is the E 6 heads the reason why the 86 mustang is 20 hp shy of the 87 mustang? Are they really that crappy of a head? Ive noticed that the 86 mustang even has more compression ratio than the 87 and up.

Yeah, Its basically the only difference between them and an 87. The heads on an 86 are a shrouded valve head, and they were great for emissions, but they didn't flow very well at all.

The 86 intake was a POS also, not to mention smaller cam profiles to limit valve lift since the pistons had no valve reliefs.

you might have some clearance problems if you dont get the pistons notched
