I was messing around with hard braking tonight and if I got up to about 70 and hit the brakes hard (not slammed, just hard) the e-brake light would come on until about 20-30 MPH and then go off. I checked the e-brake but there isn't anything under it to pull it up or anything. No ABS lights or anything else came on. Any ideas?

Isn't the light also for other braking problems like low fluid level?

that light is also used to tell you about other problems in the brake system.

check your fluid level in your master cyl. as the pads wear out the fluid level drops, so you may just need brakes.

+1 that exact same thing happened to me the pads were worn and the light would come on under a little more heavy braking. I changed the pads and the light went out.

Works for me. That sucks because these pads are brand new. I had them put on back in May...

Did you replace front and rear pads? If so you might have other brake issues like a fluid leak

Yeah. Front and rears. I noticed the fluid level is low though. I'll add some and see what happens in the next week or so. I'll also check the pads. They're hawk pads and some say they don't last long.

Fluid being low will do it as well because thats basically how it tells if your pads are worn if the fluid drops so fill it up and you should be good to go.

+2 but the difference with me was that the brake fluid was low. So I added some and problem solved

Added fluid today. My current fluid looks pretty dirty so I may get it flushed or do it myself. Plus S/S brake lines are cheap around here so I think I'm going to add them too.
