E-brake Relay Issue

2001 GT Vert E-brake light issues. Without the light on the dash the top will not go up and down. I have to put the e-brake handle up and down 20-30 times sometimes to get the light to stay on so the top can be put up or down.

1. I assume it is some kind of relay that has gone bad. Is there a forum post somewhere on how to bypass this switch so i don't have to use the e-brake. I did search and found nothing here or using google.

2. If not what is the relay called and where is it? I assume under the center console near the e-brake?

I'm pretty sure there is a switch on the e-brake handle itself that allows the top mechanism to work, it also also triggers the light...that would be the first thing I'd look at

+1 there's a switch in the E-brake that provides the ground to the convertible top relay. Look at the possibility of a drink spill in the center console as a possible problem source.
