for about 2-3 weeks now the e-brake light has fluttered when i accelerate and then stays on when I'm at a constant speed. Just did a full brake and rotor swap this last spring....checked and pads and rotors are all good..I'm thinking it just another electrical ghost..since this has not been my first encounter with my '02 and have heard of many other electrical problems with mustangs....especially from 99-04 models....anyone with ideas or previous experience with this problem?????? help plz

Check fluid level in the MC

Have you checked the fluid level in the Master Cylinder reservoir? If low, the fluid can slosh around while driving making the brake warning light flicker on/off.

Check this right away. Your saftey may depend upon it!

If the level is OK, check the float to be sure it moves up/down freely.

Next, disconnect the electrical connector to the MC reservoir. See if this makes the cluster warning light go out. If so, this confirms the problem is in the MC circuit and not the E-brake circuit.

Regarding the e-brake warning, have there been any drink spills in the center e-brake area?

spills unavoidable

yea i checked the master fluid level it was about half way up the resivor so with in the normal operating spects. for fluid level...I have not checked the float yet, but will do....but after inspecting the rear brakes and pads i was starting to assume that the switch by the e-brake was effected....was in a pretty severe accident back in June and car was out of commision for about 3 months...and i think that the -e-brake is not sitting properly and the switch may have been infiltrated by some liquid....having problems with getting front tires even with impact driver after shop put tires back on....so still waiting to check front brakes and assembly....but at this point i'll be taking apart center console to check the e-brake assembly and switch under it...Thank you for your help...I'll keep site posted on progress...

Halfway up seams on the low side to me. The full line is just below the top.

Problems with the pads will not cause the brake light to come on. Only two things will. Low fluid level or the e-brake handle not being all the way released.

The simple test of disconnecting the electrical connector at the MC will positively nail down which is true in your case. No guess work required.
