95 Aode.

Ready for install, 95 Cobra intake, GT40P heads.

Is the E 303 cam too much for this application?

Car gets around 6000 miles a year, I would like a decent idle.

To much-no, is your computer going to freak out my $$'s on yes. Our puters seem not to like the ford cams very much but it is hit or miss, when it comes to the evil idle surge/dieing

I ran into a guy at the NMRA World Finals last year that was running the #19 in his 95 Cobra...it idled good and he said it was a huge improvement over his stocker. I hate to try to remember the dyno #'s. He told me but I can't remember.

Don't stay stock, it's not worth it. A cam is so cheap and easy to do while you're that far into the motor. The idle issues CAN be worked out, and it will be so worth it when you're done working on it.

from what I was told, you are wasting your time if you don't upgrade your torque converter. I have a buddy that has the B-cam and his computer is ok other than it doesn't like to idle right from time to time. other than that it worked great. by the way, his is a 5 speed.

Just have to set the idle higher is all. If problem persists take it to a dyno and have them adjust or a/f and timing. Thats around $50 cuz its not a full blown tune.

You will have a hard time with the e-cam so don't get that one. Try the steeda 19. I don't have many idle issues but the ones I have are more than enough. Especially with the aode.

DONT GET THE E303. You will have lots of issues.

I built my new 306 with a E303 and had non-stop problems. Even got a chip burnt and still wasn't driveable.

I went back to stock and for the driveabilty I gained, couldn't be happier.

I agree with outlaw. I've known many people with AODE's that have put the E cam in there with horrible results. Manual cars seem to run much better with them than autos. Some milder cams are the Steeda 19, Crane 2031, and Comp Cams makes many great cams for your setup.

Anderson Ford Motorsports has the B-31 cam, which is comparable to the Steeda 19 and Crane 2031 in terms of power and driveability.

You should definitely do a cam while you have the engine torn down that far. You will kick yourself if you don't do it.

According to Ford, if you have the AODE and install an "E" cam, you *WILL* need to change your torque converter. In most cases an "E" cam will pass smog tests.

Ford Racing now sells 3200 stall converters pretty darn cheep for the AODE.

That pretty much the same combo as me.

I have no idle problems or anything, and also run 30# injectors.

Maybe I am just lucky.

Why not pick a cam thats gonna make POWER and then pick up a tuning device and tune your idle/wot? Don't pick a cam because it might sound good and might not surge. Thats how you end up with a slow turd! The 2 cams you have in mind (E303 and steeda 19) both blow monkey balls and will not make power.

I don't know if you know the 94/95 computer, but the only way you can tune them is with a) A very expensive TwEECer [and interfacing laptop], or b) a custom burn.

If the guy is on a budget, the custom burn/ EEC tuner [not including laptop] and custom grind cam will cost about eight times to ten times more than a FR 'alphabet' cam and a high stall TC (Which he may also need with a custom grind cam also).
Not only adding to the cost of a custom cam is often the need to add a bigger fuel pump and bigger injectors, and MAF replacement.

I'm sure this is a very budget oriented project, judging from his other parts.

I would go with a comp cam and tell them what your looking for and they will refer a cam to you. They are very helpful and really stand behind their stuff. i think the 274 cam works great with our cars, but make sure you tell them you have a AODE.
