alright i want an e303 cam cuz i love that lopey idle, that and my dad got a b303 and i just have to out-do him...but im a little low on funds for a better intake, i have a set of 1970 351w heads with 1.91 valves and either a 70mm or 75mm throttle body *havnt decided yet* with full exhaust headers x-pipe all that good stuff...now i was curious how the e cam would work with the stock intake bored out to use the bigger throttle body, and wheather or not im gonna need to get a chip burned to make it run right...any comments???

Is this a MAF car? If so, you might be able to get away without a tune. If not you should look into converting it. With heads, a cam, and some bolt ons, the stock intake will really be holding you back. You should definitely look into a good intake. As far as the cam, you're not necessarily "outdoing" your dad by going with the e-cam. The e and b-cam will have their pros and cons, and neither one is an overall better cam, it just depends on application. The b-cam has a slightly rougher idle. You might want to look into another off the shelf cam such as the trick flow stage 1 or something. It doesn't sound as good imo, but it is an overall better cam.

yea its an 89 gt with a 5 speed...so after a bit of research i guess the e is better for high rev applications? so maybe ill just go with b...iv been looking every day for a lower priced cobra or edlebrock but for some reason people on ebay pay almost just as much for a used one as a brand new one! and same with the bbk and edlebrock throttlebodies...its crazy.. maybe ill get lucky and find one with a typo lol

a tfs stage 1 cam is cheaper then the letter cam and its better because of the split duration and split lift. and also sounds mean as hell...i got one waiting to put into my new motor

it sucks to have to by parts twice but with your setup you will run better with a 65mm throttle body, 70mm at the absolute max

There's much better cams than the letter cams from FRPP that will duplicate that lopey idle. There's also probably cams that don't have that characteristic idle lope that will outperform the B or E cams. The stock cam isn't by any means a bad cam with the right combination of supporting parts. If you're dead set on getting a cam, get one matched to your particular application. If you get one that has a lope you're looking for in the process, that's an added bonus.

wouldnt i have to worry about valve clearance with an f cam...was thinkin that was a little too radical...and i dont know if i could foot the bill on a spendy comp cam or anything like that and the letter cams seem to be the cheaper of the bunch, and you dont think i should go with a 75?? what would it hurt??...im 19 live on my own and got laid off from work lol but i gotta get this done before may....when i get my license back lol...and yea emmisions arnt a prob here out in the sticks
