I went out and removed the starter to see what model 302 I had and it read E5AE. I couldnt make out the numbers below it, It also had a screwed on tag just to the side of the numbers with numbers on it but I couldnt read it either. I guess I just want to know if this block is crap or not.
It's an 85 model year roller 302 block. It's not as good as the 86-up blocks but it is a roller cam block. The 86-up blocks had more iron added to the decks and bore bottoms than the 85's. The screwed on tag numbers are the actual casting date it was made..
