I've been discussing that very same thing with another SN member over the last day or so. No answers yet. His have oversized valves (1.92 / 1.72, something like that) and have had a bunch of work done. No idea yet how well they will do yet. The chambers are large and should allow for quite a bit of lift and a pretty radical LSA.

TMOSS might be a good guy to contact. If anyone has flow tested a set of modded E6s around here, I would think that he would have.

Noooooooooo Thumpers for an 86 unless you've got notched or aftermarket pistons!

Actually there are a lot of 86 pistons with E7s.. E or B cams w/o any p/v interface issues... Now a big valve head.. yep, there might be a problem!!

Just me.........................

e6's

I put some mildly ported E7's in my 86gt, made big difference, the e6's have to be worked by someone who knows e6's, or you would not get much gain. Its more economical to go to e7's, I thought I would loose some torque down low, but even with a cobra intake it feels like I have more bottem end power I definetly have more top end. The power band is much wider now. Do a search on ebay, there was someone selling brand new e7's a while back. There is always someone selling ported e7's on the stang sites. My other upgrades were svo 1.6 rr, ceramic headers, note I had to shim rocker arms after e7's had valve job. Before I went to this set up, I put a 87 upper on, with 65mm tb, pullies, with the e6's, it dynoed 201rwhp, 281rwtrq. I had new set up dynoed before shimming rr's,with 3 loose plugs, oil in intake, it did, 219rwhp/ 280rwtrq, after shimming it felt a lot stronger, so I think I'm at 230-240rwhp, 290-300rwtrq range, if you go with tmoss ported lower and e7's it is a great upgrade for a good price.

I also put a set of e7s on an 86 gt motor. I dont have any times but it feels a hell of a lot stronger than any stock long block 87-93. Not only do the e7s flow better, they have a more efficient and smaller combution chamber. So you gain airflow and compression. The e6 is one of the worst heads ford ever produced. Are you running a stock intake? If so, you need to ditch the lower. I thought the 86 was the same as the 87-93. when I stared to clean the gasket surface I noticed the ports looked a little smaller than I remembered. I could barely fit my pointer finger into the port (I have average to small sized fingers). I went to the old parts bin and dug up a stock 90 lower. I stuck my finger in the port and had about a 1/16th gap on both sides.

With a set of cleaned up e7s and a good intake, your car should rip!
