E7 Porting Question

I'm having a shop port my stock E7's, my question is, do I HAVE to get new valves, or can I reuse the stock ones? I'm on an extreme budget here. If anyone could point me to some cheap valves that would be good too.

I dont believe you need to touch the valves to have the heads ported. But in return, by not adding larger valves you are still restricting the heads some. The valves are pretty small (I SHOULD know the sizes off the top of my head, but I am drawing a blank) and adding a set of GT-40 valves, with a good valve job, on top of the porting would wake those heads up like nothing! Some guys have run amazing times on E7 heads, you just have to soend the money where it counts!

I reused my stock valves for mine, as long as they are not bent or your not running more than 120 lbs. seat pressure they are fine. If you go with bigger valves, you should ask them to unshroud the chamber, but not too much or you will create a lip from the cylinder bore. Stock sizes are 1.78 intake/1.46 exhaust.

Don't be too worried about the size of your stock valves. They're more than adequate for most minor bolt-ons and stock or near stock cam grinds. Remember, small valves keep air velocity high and promote better over all low RPM torque which is essential in a small displacement N/A combo. Instead of swapping out to larger valves at this point, a better thing to concentrate on might be the quality of the valve job. a 3 or even a 5-angle valve job can net huge flow and velocity gains on what might otherwise be a very sedate port job.

3 angle job was what I was going to have done. I don't know what he'll charge for anything more, I'll have to find out. But I am running 120lb seat pressure valve springs. Three of them were closer to 130 so I had those ground down a little and put small shims on the few that were a tad less than 120lbs. I also installed an E-303 cam when I did the springs. I'm about to put a performer RPM upper/lower that have been custom ported and I want to make sure the heads can make the most of the intake without sacrificing a lot of low end torque (I'm keeping the stock throttle body since I can't use all the top end the RPM offers right now anyway). So with that said, am I still ok keeping the stock valves?

yep... keep the stock valves, have the shop do a good 3 angle valve job and the minor port and bowl blending will make you happy!! 120 lbs is good got the B .. have fun and rock on!! Cool??

hi, dont want to highjack your thread
thumper couple of questions for you,
1- I heard and correct me if im wrong that the stock size chevy valves will fit in the e7's,
2- do you recommend installing a larger valve and do you have any dyno numbers for comparison
3- of all the alphabet cam which one do you like the best with your heads
