Hi, i installed my e7te heads backwards on my 5.0 after rebuilding the bottom end, theyre already torqued down and i dont want to take them off and swap them and reuse my already crushed headgaskets. the engine hasnt been fired on these headgaskets, they are felpro 10112's and im sure theyd be fine to reuse but perfer not to. as for the holes for the smog equiptment, these are now on the front. i plan to buy the thermactor plugs so i can bolt up my accessories and not have a massive exhaust leak, my real question may seem like a dumb one but my only real concern is the direction the spark plugs are facing. since now they will obviously be angled in the wrong direction, i just want to make sure there will be no clearance issues with the pistons and that i can still get the plug wires and headers on and put the engine back in without any problems. i can take the heads back off and do it right but if i will have no issues as is ill just put the smog plugs in and call it a day. thanks

E7 heads can be mounted either side. The only thing that matters are the locations of the threaded plugs for the accesssory Brackets.

There's only one casting for the head. On the drivers side the plugs face back to the firewall. On the passenger side the plugs face forward towards the radiator.

You can leave the heads as they are but you need to plug the thermactor out back and install the threaded plugs for the accessories up front

There is no backwards, both heads are the same. The Thermactor passage is plugged with a threaded plug, which may be difficult to install or remove with the heads in place

The head gaskets have a specific position that they are supposed to be placed in to insure proper engine cooling. See the video below for instruction.

It may be more trouble that its worth to get the inserts, install them, etc, than to just swap the heads around. Just get another pair of gaskets and its done.

mount the heads so that the exhaust ports face out, and you should be good to go!
