E85 ethanol fuel?

I have started to notice that some stations are beginning to carry E85 ethanol fuel which are supposedly for the flexible fuel vehicles, this E85 fuel is a little cheaper than regular gas and is 105 octane, my question is would this fuel run in our cars or would it screw something up?

I've never heard of anyone trying to convert to E85. To run this stuff, I would think you'd have to change EVERYTHING in the feul system, as it is pretty corrosive. I know the FFV's have special injectors for E85. I'm talkin' all the fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel tank ..... everything. Maybe in the long run, you'd save $$, though. The way oil prices are going, it seems like soon, mopeds will cost as much as a new car because of their economy.

I work at a Chevrolet dealership and some of the Impalas and Tahoes we get in are flex fuel. They have a fuel guide in them and gasoline gets over 100-200 miles more per tank than with E85..

They're getting more common.... Ranger's, Escape's, Taurus's....

I used to drive a Gov. van (Dodge Caravan) that was a FFV.... and now Chevy is into it.

From what I understand, this is right on...

FFV vehicles come with stainless tanks, and they do require larger injectors. So stock 19's would need like 30's. I believe that FFV vehicles have fuel sensors to measure the alcohol/ethanol content, and computers that adjust to match. Converting to E85 would be tough, and probably not worth it.
