Easiest way to remove stock lugs with axles still in car?

I searched the forums, but didn't find what I was looking for. I think I want to add a spacer to get that just so perfect apperance that having the rims and tires to the edge of the wheel well gives. To do this the right way, I want to use ARP studs. What's the easiest way to remove the stock lugs with the axles still in the car? I really don't know how much banging I want to do on these things. Anyone know an easy way to press them out?

Just hammer them out lightly. I've broken studs and had to replace them that way, and have never had an issue with it. The way I look at it is, the axle bearings see more load from the road than I put on them with a hammer for 10 seconds.

I don't think the load is put on the axle bearings. The axle end will just hit the pinion bar (or whatever it's called) in the differential. That big SOB isn't going anywhere before the lugs pop out.

Be sure to spin the wheel until the lug is lined up with a gap in the brakes.
