Will a Eaton M90 work a 4.6? If so what parts will be needed to make the supercharger work? I've been running across a lot of good deals on M90's.

Thanks

You'd have to get pretty custom with the manifold and pulley system. As someone who has a kit that utilizes an Eaton M90S on their 4.6L I'd suggest if you're going to go custom, go with at least an M112 or one of the higher regarded Twin Screws (Autorotor/Lysholm). The M90's is good for making entry level power levels (300-350rwhp), but you'll run out of breath in a hurry if you make an attempt to overspin it.

There were a couple of nice "Twin" M90 set up's I've seen, which would be a nice compromise between lower ACT's and increased air volume, but it's gonna take some work. Click on "MY GARAGE" under my username to see what might be envolved in building your own kit.

Thanks. I'm looking for entry level power. I don't want to spend a ton of money on something like a KB.

What would be the best choice for me along the lines of an M90, that will be more or less straight bolt on? Would a Cobra M112 be an easier install, what mods would be required?

Thanks again.

The M90 would certainly be easier to adapt than the M112, since the M90 is much smaller. But there would be nothing at all about it that would indicate a "strait bolt-on". You'll need to make a completely custom intake manifold, inlet design, pulley system, bypass system, etc, etc. If you're really careful, you can get away with the stock fuel rails, but otherwise you'll have to customize them too. If you've never done it and haven't really got the means to do so, it's far more cost effective to just buy a professionally designed and proven system from one of the major manufacturers.

If low dollar entry level is what you're looking for, check out the FRPP unit. It utilizes a non-intercooled version of the Eaton M112, is compact in design and will make decent power with a few bolt ons. http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=5290 You may still have to get custom with a few parts.

If you are looking for a straight bolt-on kit utilizing an M90 than I would look out for used Series I and II Saleen kits (Series II preferably). These kits use M90's made for 4.6 2v GT's. Otherwise you would end up needing to undergo some fabrication with a different style M90 other than the Saleen kit.

I have a Series II on my 02' GT. You will need a number of items, and its sometimes hard to find a complete kit for sale. Some of the items include: Blower/Intake Manifold/Intercooler, Heat Exchanger, Heat Exchanger Water Pump, Fan Controller to CCRM Module, Accelerator/Cruise Cables, Intercooler Coolant Tank, EGR, etc... Some items you can get away without having the stock unit, and just purchase better aftermarket replacements (such as the heat exchanger, coolant tank, intercooler...).

Heres a LINK to an install guide (click on "Complete Instructions") for a Series II on a GT. Should give you an idea of what is involved and what is needed, as well as what comes with a kit back in the day straight from Saleen.

Heres some pics of my Series II on my car. I love my setup, and would not have been able to afford any boost otherwise - haha. Plus you cant beat the whine!

This looks like exactly what I want. The price is very right.

Will it fit under my stock hood? How much horsepower can I gain?

The Allen kit is very nice. My buddy has one. He made 355rwhp with it.

For that price he can buy almost any s/c kit. He's on a budget...

So GA_Stang, how much are these "deals" going to run you? You can get some really good prices ($1500-$2000 compared to $3500+ new) on COMPLETE centri kits on ebay.

Yes, the FRPP kit will clear the stock hood. Look at putting out about 300RWHP with the base kit and more still if you add a few bolt ons.

I do believe there's an install kit you need to buy as well, but I'm not 100% on it's details. There are one or two members on here running this kit, you might want to shout out to them if you're serious about it.

I've been seeing a few M90's on eBay. Under $500 for the blower.

Keep in mind, if you do decide to go custom the one you'll really want is the GEN III M90. It has a square inlet port and is more efficient than the earlier "oval port" versions. They could be found on the '94-'95 Thunderbird Supercoupes.

there is a reason that cobra blowers are practically given away........you will have more than the cost of a KB kit in making it work on your GT.

I am in the same boat with the original poster. I want forced induction, but I don't want more than 400 rwhp. The KB and allen kits are nice, but they are both overkill for what I want and I don't want to pay for something I will never use. I have been seriously thinking about getting the FRRP sc, but where can I buy one? There is a thread on stangnet about someone putting one on their 99+ GT and it worked great for them. If someone would come out with a sc kit (everything included) with no more than 350rwhp and around $3,000 (not centri, I want the instant torque) I think there would be a large demand.

That Allen Kit will put your right in around the 300-325rwhp mark with their REV II 6psi kit and 340-370rwhp mark with their REV II 9psi kit. power fluctuations will depend on additional suporting mods you have made to your car.

The FRPP kit can be purchased directly from Ford Racing, and is in the link I noted above.

The Saleen Series IV kit (which I believe is still available) will also put you within those power levels.

The Kenne Bell Non-intercooled kit will put your right in the 315-340rwhp range as well....so if money is tight, don't go overextending yourself thinking you've got to go with the intercooled version right off the bat. Even the 9psi kit in most cases won't get you 400rwhp like Kenne Bell claims. Most guys are seeing between 370-390rwhp with them.

So you've got plenty of options.....and all are good choices.

Wonder how much power it's making. Some of the guys over at SCCOA are doing the M112 Rotor swap to their M90's and making upwards of 360RWHP with bolt ons and shooting for 400RWHP race gas and Water Meth with their 3.8L Supercoupes. Was just at the MN12 shootout in Ohio a couple of weekends ago and there were several of them running 12's, a couple in the 11's and one of them in the 10's.

.....not so funny now, is it.
