I don't want to start a war, but what's the big deal with posting ebay links?? I can understand someone starting a for sale thread in here with them, but if a link is posted to help someone out in a thread it shouldn't be a problem.

It seems like every single ebay link is removed, weather it's helpful or an add.

Essentially, it's because it's free advertising, and it's unknown if the person providing the link has any affiliation with the item for sale. That's what I believe got the no eBay links rule put in effect as a matter of fact. Technically, we're not supposed to link to vendors outside the StangNet sponsors either, but our sponsors don't necessarily sell every item that may be needed, such as some specialty items available through the major Mustang restoration vendors, so finding items can start to become difficult without finding it elsewhere. It pretty much just boils down to: StangNet has sponsors who pay to advertise here, and we're not offering advertising to someone who isn't a sponsor.

I couldn't have said it any better Matt.

vp6799- The owner of the site, MRaburn, specifically states that no ebay links are allowed in the forums in the Stangnet Terms of Service. Here's a link to them, the specific mention of ebay links is found under the advertising portion of the terms of service.

If you feel you can help another member out with a link to an ebay auction simply PM them the link.

So you can't even make fun on something you find on ebay in the talk section. Like that mustang with the scoop on the roof or something to that effect. I can see the free advertising and trying to sell things.

Generally folks just post a picture from the auction. This circumvents posting the actual link to the auction.

I guess it all comes down to the fact that our posts are occupying someone elses virtual real estate. So we have to play by their rules just like anywhere else. I am ok with that. Although it would be nice to post a link when referencing something if needed. I also think it is nice they at least let us post for sales in our sigs .

ok so speaking of sponsors.. did any of you click on "octane TV?" WOW!!!
