hey guy's.

i recently won an ebay auction.

$125 for an aluminum driveshaft:D

this morning i received an email from the seller stating that he put the wrong email address in his auction.

he asked me to cancel the payment to the email address listed in the auction and make payment to an email address he included in his message to me.

i already cancelled payment, and sent him a message that im not comfortable making payments to an email address other than the one listed in the auction.

i've never bought anything through ebay before.

is this normal,or is it a scam?

thanks guy's
:SNSign:

That sounds iffy. I doubt it's a scam, but you might want to get a phone number and call him, he should re-post the auction with the correct address and eat the cost for screwing up in the first place

Sounds like a scam to me... a guy I worked with fell for almost the same exact thing a couple years ago, but on a $5k camper... I wouldn't do it if you can't local pick-up.

If it is not a scam the DS proabbly needs something (u-joints, balancing, straightening, yoke, etc).

Tips

Remember PAYPAL is the way to go! It gives you a 2nd out if the deal goes south as you can fight bad deals via your CC & paypal! Tracking #'s are a must! Read the feedback! If you see a bunch of bad ones move on! If the guy responds to the feedback like a jackass move on! I just bought a set of Taylormade Burner XD irons (yes not car related) well they do fit in the trunk of the stang! and before I bid on them I checked out the seller! It was the best transaction I've ever had on E-bay! Paid him and those clubs where sent out that afternoon! within 2hrs of being paid! Now thats fast! and I got them the next day! Real Deal! not fakes! I've also bought stuff for the stang....tonneau cover for the top that drops over the whole back seat making it a two seater! very nice! and an air deflector, those two items took a bit longer to clear Canada Customs but I still got them!

"you get what you pay for" isn't always the case on Ebay. I remember back in the day I scored a brand new A/C compressor for my Fox 5.0 for a mere 12.50$ and 10 bucks to ship it. And I mean BRAND NEW! Person listed it as a "Ford Air Pump". No one else bid on it. I searched this guy and also scored a set of aftermarket shorty headers for.....yes, another 12.50! I believe they were pace setter or hedmen, something like that. Sounded too good to be true, but a few days later and it all arrived safe and sound!

Moral of the story, I got well over 250.00 worth of parts, probably more, for around 40 bucks shipped! If you know how to shop on ebay, you can save boat loads of cash.

Of course there are exceptions and bargains. One just has to recognize/distinguish the difference between "the steak" and "the sizzle".

I have spent more then 5000 dollars and sold more the $10000 on ebay and never had bad feedback. If you are honest and don't piss people off. you are all good. honesty is best policy at ebay.
