EBC Brakes?

I am going to do my second driver education event this month at VIR and need to upgrade my brakes. I have been looking at the dimpled and slotted brakes from EBC that Summitt currently sells. I will retain the stock calipers for this conversion and it looks like I can get the rotors and pads front and rear for less than $600. Most of the kits that change the calipers are in the $1200-$1500 range and I am not sure that I see the benefit as I will not be racing, but weill be pushing my car.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this brake question before I spend the $?

Don't spend the money on rotors, just get a couple sets from newtakeoff.com or something like that. The slotted/dimpled/drilled rotors aren't really worth it, I have slotted rotors and probably will go back to stock next time. Not sure how fast you will be going but the EBC yellows are ok for beginners, if you will be pushing a little harder, go with the blues. You should get better fluid like ATE Super Blue or you run the risk of boiling your fluid. If you want to spend $600 then spend a couple hundred more and try to find some GT500 Brembo take-offs on ebay.

AGREED!!! Do not buy the rotors, if you read the fine print anything you buy for "street/strip" applications are NOT intended for track use!! Track use rotors are extremely expensive. I vote also for buying a few sets of stock rotors and a good set of track pads. Once you're done with the event put back the rotors and pads you came to the track with. Remember to mark which side of the car the rotors came from and which side the brake pads came from and which ones where inboard and outboard.

Interesting thoughts that I had not considered. I never really pushed my brakes hard last time, but wanted to this time and I had some vibration coming down from 120 late in the day.

The Baer decereators and the ebc brakes seem to be good for the price, but I may just buy stock now.
