Ford told me the rubber boot on my ebrake wore out, and i should replace the line. . .

Here is my question for the experts. I NEVER use my ebrake, the car is an automatic, and I only want this car to last me another 3 years until i am done paying off my wifes Edge.

So i just want to get new rear rotors and pads (which i need) to hold me over for 3 years.

Would it be dumb for me to do this, the guy at ford said something about if i dont replace the line, the rear brakes wont work correctly, because the pressure would be applied unevenly.

The ebrake effects the pressure of your rear brakes????

Please give me advice as i am not made of money! (they quoted me at like 750 to change the rear brakes and ebrake line)

Thank you in advance.

yes an e-brake is important

you need an e=brake , I bought one on e-bay installing it wasnt all that easy you need a lift may as well go for the rear brakes & rotors cut , thats a high price the pads are easy if you have done them before ..the pistons twist in & you must open the bleeders ..... installing the new e-brake handle is tough like trying to compress a 300lb compound bow & you need an extra guy to hook the part that connects to the cable by the rear wheel ..... shop around at a few repair shops

Although I do have a lift you can do the install on the ground if u need to. I personally wouldnt worry too much about the ebrake if you are not parking on hills, BUT I also do not know for sure about the regular rear brakes being affected by a lack of ebrake. It didnt appear to be an issue when I replaced my ebrake handle.
