Eclipse amps any good?

My Alpine died after 10 years and 3 cars. I was recommended an Eclipse amp. How are they as far as sound and build quality? I haven't bought car audio equipment in a long time, and it progresses almost as fast as home computers. I want to make sure that it is decent and not crap. Thanks

Ive never owned one but hear good reviews on ALL Eclipse gear. check out caraudioforum.com, very good, informative site. As for amps, also consider Soundstream and Phoenix Gold. very high quality gear.

Eclipse amplifiers are very clean (very clean sound) but they don't have as much power as most amplifiers. With an Eclipse amp you might have to go with speakers with a higher sensitivity to get more output. Also Eclipse amps are pretty expensive compared to others, you're paying a lot for the name in this case.

Never ever heard of that brand.
I would stick with the brands that have been around a while such as..
Kenwood, pioneer, alpine, crunch, kicker.

Eclipse has been around plenty long to have established themselves as a quality company.

Eclipse makes great equipment. I'd take a lower rated Eclipse over a 800 watt kenwood amp anyday.
