ECM Removal

I have an 88 convertible and I need to remove the ECM to install a chip.
The kick panel was removed, wiring harness plug removed, relay removed, and the screw which holds the ECM was removed. It doesn't appear there is enough room the get the ECM out of it's nesting place without removing the heater box. Anyone with any experience with this?

I never had any problems, but I don't own a vert either. It was a pull & tug operation, but it came out & went back in with no problems.
