Edelbrock Performer Install

I just bought an Edelbrock Performer used with the Adapter Elbow for $325 shipped. Anyway to my question. What do I need for the install. I was thinking:
Gaskets(What Gaskets and What Brand?)Felpro?
New Thermostat-(How Much Are They?)
RTV

Anything else?

Also most of the images for the step by step install for the Performer on the sticky don't show up for me. Is it just my computer or is the post messed up?

get the felpro 1250's, if you have aftermarket heads, and the stock gaskets prolly if you have stock heads...

I would get a 180 thermostat, one that fails open (if you know what i mean).

I just did this install about 2 weeks ago.... I really like the intake, but i would upon install use lots of silicon on the intake to block mating surfaces, and make sure that it is even........ If not you are gonna wind up like me having to pull it back off in another week or so... Thats another 30$ in gaskets as well....

How much is a new 180 degree thermostat? I still have the stock heads right now but plan on doing heads later but that has no relevance to gaskets. So the fel-pros are good for now?

the thermo. that fails open is like 10$ you can get a cheapy for like 5$ though....

I think you are talking about a tool that removes the factory fuel lines. I bought one for my intake installation but there is absolutely no reason you need to do this!!! Do not remove the rails from the fuel line!! Just use a zip tie or something to hold them back out of the way and you will have no problems. There is no need to even mess with those sometimes difficult stock couplers! The injectors simply push into the lower intake (very easy) and then the fuel rails pushes onto the top of that. I bought some gasket spray adhesive for my lower intake gaskets as recommended by the directions for the install, then just ran a bead of RTV over the block between the two heads (both back and front). Make sure you use enought to get a good seal, but not too much were it is oozing out everywhere. It is important that that silicone bead is even and covers every last part of where the gasket does not meet to the intake/heads with even a slight lap being a good idea. Dont forget the thermostat houseing gasket u will need. And also u should probably pick up some new vacuum lines because your stock ones are probably old and cracked and if i remember right u have to reroute them anyways.

So to do the install I need:
Intake(obviously)
Intake Gasket
RTV
Vacuum Lines
180* Thermostat

Anything else anyone can think of?

i would just take the vac. lines off and go to the parts house and get some the exact sime diameter, and approximate length........... that should square you up on the vacuum lines.

You are also going to need a tube of silicone, for the water ports etc......


If you haven't taken your engine partially apart before i would take pictures of the vacuum lines and harness' and how everything is conneted etc. to make the reinstallation a little smoother for reference purposes.....

Yeah i hate being a broke college student, lol. Im a junior now took me 3 years to get the stang where i have it now, but im also broke all the time cause i spend like everydime i ahve on my car, so shoot me hahaha. Good luck with the install. Also do what Mytight95 said thats the best way bring in the lines to an auto parts store and match em up. Make sure to cut them longer than u will need so u have margine for error. And use pics.

Well I didn't physically get it yet. That's why I didn't PM you. When I do the tracking number its like a town over so it should be here today. I am so impatient though and I want to have everything ready for when I get home for college to do the install. I'll PM when it gets to my house and I'll get pics up when I finish the install.

u can use a stock/felpro manifold gasket just make sure the port size is the same if not just trim it with a razor, just so you can install it quick and not have to wait any longer for a edelbrock gasket.

Nice and I can pick them up at a normal part store right? Because I called places for the parts and they had them all and I would have had to wait for the edelbrock one to arrive.
