Edelbrock RPM II cowl required?

I have the rpm II . The guy I bought it from had it under the stock hood. It has some light scratches from where the hood supports were rubbing. I have a cowl so no problems. The Edelbrock book shows that only the 94-95 needs a cowl hood.

I definetly need one as soon as I ran a 1" inch spacer........I have 1/8" clearence on my 2.5 cowl hood!

to answer the original question - I don't think you will know till you get it on. depends on motor mounts, spacer etc etc. I think it will be tight even if everything is stock but can't say for sure. Call Edelbrock to find out for sure. You would hope they engineered it to work on a stock hood set-up.

Without a spacer it will fit under a stock hood. The reason for the scratches is because the front of the upper intake was rubbing on the underhood cross supports. You will need to take a dremel to the supports to make the proper clearance. If you plan on running a spacer you will absolutely need a cowl hood.
