Edelbrock RPM II Intake and Trick Flow Heads

Do the ports match up correctly? I assume they would. I have gotten recommendations to go with the RPM II over a Trick Flow Intake for my 347, which has Trick Flow heads. Let me know if it will work properly and also what the best intake would be for a 347 making around 375-400 to the wheels. Thanks!

I guess my options are Trick Flow Track Heat, Trick Flow R series, and RPM II. Which would best suit my needs with Trick Flow heads?
 
Only way to do it correctly is to have the lower intake port matched to the heads.
Cost is only like $150 or so.

NOT to be mistaken with gasket matching.

RPM II should be fine.
A month ago, 5.0 tested a bunch of the intakes on a 347, the rpm II peaked the highest, but the TFS and Holley II, where right there.
 
Well I assume the TF intake wouldn't need reworking, right? Is the RPM II so much better than the TF that it would be worth the porting? I would rather just get something that flows well and matches out of the box. To me, that would mean the TF "R." Is the RPM II that good? There's a Cobra intake on there now, so I suppose they both would flow a lot more....
 
I'm really not talking about actual porting, they just line the heads up with the intake, to make sure the ports are both the same size.
It's really not to gain performance, it's to keep from losing it.
 
Double posted by accident.

So i'll add one thing, the rpm II likely has larger ports than box stock TW intake ports (on the heads), that's a bad thing. The air will run into an edge when going into the head, could cause a bad sound, and significantly hurt performance.

Cam is a Crane 2031 with 1.7 rockers and I want to build the motor to rev to around 7K but I'll be shifting more around 6000-6500 depending on the dyno curve. The motor is already a built 347 but I want to take it apart and balance and blueprint it because I don't know who assembled it or how they did it....

So the TF "R" and Track Heat both have ports that match the TF heads, correct? If so, that seems like the intake to get, right? Also, am I correct that the Cobra intake is very restrictive for my application?
 
I had that cam with 1.7 rockers years ago, it maxes out at 5500.

The cobra would definetely be restrictive.

I don't know well how any intake matches up. But i really don't need to know, because the guy that does my work Requires all intakes and heads to be port matched, whether you like it or not. The head guy, mach's everthing up on an engine, uses some tool to scribe the heads or intake, then makes them match pefectly.
Some land up requiring nothing, but's it's few and far between.
 
Are your heads ported at all or are you doing something like my combo? I run an 11:1 347 (built by Rick 91GT ;)) with unported trickflow heads and a custom FTI camshaft. I use a TFS R manifold. I've never dynoed mine but I would say this combo should be good to around 6,700 rpm. My heads are milled to 55.6cc. It depends on the entire package, but that 2031 cam will get lost in a 7000 rpm 347. I'd go custom or an AFM n91 or n111 hi rev cam.

Make sure whatever cam you decide on you get the valve springs to match! I would also say titanium retainers would be a good move too for 7000 rpm's. I'd also recommend an aluminum flywheel and a romac light weight balancer.
 
Thanks for the info. I'll look into those cams. The guy I bought the car from said the heads were "lightly ported" and I can't wait to find out what that means.:nonono: So there will have to be some things redone. I may just buy a Dart block or something and start over with it and use the TF heads....
