Both come from good companies, both seem to perform well and are recomended and used by the top engine builders. Comparing and contrasting, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? So which is better for what type of application?

Which would be better for, lets just say, a TFS headed, 10:1+comp 347 Street/Strip motor in a 2600-2800lbs car?
 
I'd say Systemaxx, but I've never seen one in a dyno comparison. both good intakes though. TFS R or Victor sounds a little too top end (runners too short) for 10:1 compression street motor (with a matched cam ~6500rpms peak pwr). I'd go with 11:1 and a 7500+rpm cam to match a R or Victor intake
 
Viking, my FTI custom cam has a 3200-6400 rpm powerband with my TFS-R manifold on my 347. No 7,500 rpm here. Remember, you're building a 347, not a stock shortblock 9:1 302 ;) Fyi, the tfs R runner length is the SAME as a track heat, but the runners are larger.

If I had to vote, i'd use the holley but the rpm II will do just as good.

Neither are mine.

TFS R would match great, the victor would require the head needing port matching to be ideal. I'm not saying the holley or rpm II are bad choices, they certainly aren't, you just gotta remember A) you're feeding a 347 street/strrip car and B) you're VERY light.

I gotta get some dyno pulls and track times on my set up. I need to see how long this cam pulls for.
 
Well, I am a little taken back by this, but your right, I've got at least a point more compression and 41 more cubes to work with here. Did I mention I plan on a solid roller cam as well? If your going to go, go all out, right?

What about the TFS box intakes?

Does the TFS R intakes have that big chunk or metal right behind the throttle body opening like the street heats?
 
R box intake won't fit unless you have a cowl. It sits very high from what I seen.

Solid cam huh? How high you planning on spinning? Who's designing it? I been considering swapping to an AFM hi rev hydraulic roller maybe, the n-91 or the n-111.

You can mill the heads to also to raise the compression more. Mine are 55.6cc.

Spinning that combo to 6,500 would only be making noise. There would be no useable power at that rpm with that set up. Whats your set up or plans?

I don't plan on spinning over 7Krpm. Ed Curtis or Jay Allen for the cam. Did you have to angle mill the intake to make it work? The reason I am thinking solid roller is because the block I have is a non-roller. I talked to Rick and e-mailed Jay Allen, as well as other engine builders, and they said or agreed that solid roller is the way to go and worth the extra price. A solid roller doesn't have to be any more agressive than a hydro. I still might run a solid flat cam, depending on budget. Making money like I have been the past few weeks (shop has been balls to the wall) then it's all out, but most likley it will slow down.

Right now I have a Edelbrock Perfomer EFI. That's just not going to cut it for my goals. I plan to sell it, hopefully get $300 or so for it, and put it towards something bigger. I want something with growing room.

Right now, I have BBK 1 5/8ths longtube headers, 2.5" collector and H-pipe, would that be too small for what I am building?

a have right now a 306 with stock heads and manifold but both are ported i have the 274HR cam 30lbs inyector with 75mm maff but i whant to put the intake in this engine but i am gettin parts for my new 347 with 185's i an going to use the same cam and inyectors with 70mm TB this proyect is for January so i need help with the intake i think the TFS R is too big and the RPM II is to spensive and i know that TFS intakes are very good or you recomend me another one?

these engines are N/A
 
They'll most likely tell you to get 1 3/4" but they might be able to get the 1 5/8" to work by playing with the exhaust events. I do not know though. I had asked jay that when I was emailing him and planning on using his cam and he told me to sell them and get 1 3/4". I used to have 1 5/8" bbk's like you.

If you feel comfortable with the solid cam, go for it.

As far as I can tell, the intake doesn't need any milling but I dunno how to be 100% sure. What intake did Ed and jay tell you to get? I also asked jay which intake to use, tfs r or holley and he said use the R (which was what i had planned regardless)

Nice to see you're taking the plunge and going 347 ;)

How high you wanna spin, how much power you wanna make? Goals? What gears you have? Stick or auto? The tfs r is NOT "too big". The rpm II is pricey, but yet so are those $1350 heads you're planning lol. I can't make any recommendations until you answer the questions I asked you. So far IMO the rpm II or the R (should pull a little higher) are my choices.

Considering what I would have to do to make the 306 to do what I want, a 347 kit wasn't much more. I'm in contact with Rick 91GT, as soon as he gives me the exact amount and where to send it, I'm sending out for it. Do it right, or don't do it at all. I'll be damned if I have my car down for a year, thousands of dallars later and come back with a punk chump engined car. Since I was 12, I have wanted a wicked mustang. I have always been into fast cars, it's going to happen, even if it's the last thing I do.

I know a guy that wants my longtubes, I'll call him tomorrow. I'm going to need bigger injectors too. Might as well do a 408!!! Oh, lets not open that door.
 
A properly worked Performer lower with the stock Performer upper will more than likely make more average power/torque than the RPMII or Holley on your target car combo if your going to keep rpm below 6,500.

But you take these other guys advice and buy bigger.

i whant to make the hiest hp, i have 3.73, it has a T5, i have 1 5/8 LT's i know that i need bigger for the 347 and 2 1/2 exhaust what can i buy?
